With all the administrative mistakes we see, getting ready to take the FCICE requires more than practice and study.

Those of you taking the Spanish federal court interpreter certification exam (FCICE) in the United States this December are studying, practicing, and looking for a refresher/prep workshop that will get you to pass this very difficult test.

Unfortunately, your preparation time is constantly interrupted by the fear of having more incidents like the ineptitude shown by the Administrative Office of the United States Courts during the last regularly scheduled exam. Some of you took the out-of-cycle exam offered a few months ago to those affected by the actions of the AOUSC and its then selected partner. This uneasiness was just reinforced by the inefficient, time-consuming, frustrating registration process many had to endure when they attempted to register for the December exam. Computer glitches, a lack of an appropriate plan “B” by the government, and unanswered phone calls, made us remember the now world-famous fiasco, and got many candidates wondering what to expect this time when they show up to take the test.

On the day of the exam, show up well-prepared, confident, and focused on the test. Part of that concentration, assurance, and peace of mind comes from knowing what to do if something goes wrong with the proctor, the equipment provided for the exam, or the way the USAOC responds to a problem. Knowing how to preserve evidence of irregularities could be valuable later on.

For this reason, we decided to offer the most comprehensive FCICE exam prep workshop at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte from November 7 to 10. We will break the exam down into sections, and analyze it for your benefit; we will practice with exercises found nowhere else, written and prepared by real attorneys and court interpreters who know how to make the fictional cases as real as the ones you will interpret once you get certified. Also, we offer you a unique session where we show you how to protect yourself from incompetent proctors and inappropriate actions and inactions by the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. Please navigate the website to learn the details of the program, its cost, and the enrollment process. We have even included a section suggesting hotels near campus. It is important you enroll soon because there are only a few places left.  Please visit the website, and find the most relevant information right here: https://fciceexamworkshop.com/2019/03/15/the-workshop/

We hope to see you in Charlotte in November!
